More layoffs in radio land this week. This comes on the verge of XM Radio supposedly making a big announcement next week. Rumour has it as a price reduction, but that remains to be seen. CMW is now just a few weeks away and while attendance is looking like it will be OK, it certainly won't be at the level that it's been in the past.
Notable:
-CHUM Radio, a division of CTV Limited confirmed a staff reduction as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce operating expenses. Affected are 40 positions, including 17 terminations and 23 vacancies that will be eliminated.
-7 layoffs at Rogers Sudbury including news director, morning host, PD/Afternoon Drive host
-23 layoffs at Astral Media
-The Hawk signs on in Chilliwack with a Modern & Classic rock blend
-Michael Moman joins Magic 98.3 Saskatoon as PM Drive and AM Co-Host
